Franklin D. Selvy, Class of 1954, on shoulders of crowd. He was a member of the Furman University Purple Paladins basketball team from 1951-1954 and holds the NCAA Division I record for highest number of points scored in one game, scoring 100 points against Newberry College on February 13, 1954. Also in 1954 he captained both the Associated Press and United Press All-American teams and earned NCAA Player of the Year honors. He was inducted into the Furman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981 and is a Charter Member of the Furman University Hall of Fame.
