Gaffney Racial Confrontation

National Guardsmen and Highway Patrol troopers separate marchers in downtown Gaffney in May of 1968. The arrest of two black teens led to protests by blacks about local discrimination. Governor Robert McNair declared a state of emergency and the city was placed under a curfew for nine days.
